Thanks Patrick this was the answer I was looking for;
your previous post;
"I also suppose that the main area of your questioning is directed at the place where the intake bolts onto the head. All the heads that I have seen have this boss cut at the same angle...so no matter what intake you bolt on to it, it will always be directed the same direction and angle. I hope this wasn't confusing...because it appears so with me..lol I just don't have a better way of explaining it right now."
That intake I have that I've been saying would never work must have been a bad one then, because I bolted it on once and even if I would have had enough room for the carb it would have been far from being close to level. In one of your previous posts you stated that you remembered the XR200 non-R intake being much longer than the one I had in my pics.
So now I no doubt I got one thats not right even though it looks perfect inside and out.
Good thing I never put it on EBAY, I'd had some buyer pissed at me. LOL

Yeah Glenn its been interesting to say the least.
Its kinda funny that we've been kinda goin back and forth with the intake issue and maybe Patrick will get over to his buddies sometime and get a look at that intake to see if the '446' is longer than the one I have pics of so I can give in and admit I got a bad one.
I had to point out that it didn't work for me and I really didn't want to post that to a member named KNOWSALOT and when you read his posts you realize he can back up his nickname. It has been good though for people who plan to do the mod in the future so they know for sure.
Boy I like to ramble on!

I love my 200x. I have ridden many different bikes of all types and my favorite is the 200x.
I do most of my riding in tight woods. What I have seen over the years is that a mildly modified 200x motor can have a very long life with a very usable power range. I love the height and feel of the 200x.
I weight in at 215 lbs so of the best modifications I made to my 200x was the 83 XR200 six speed transmission. As long as you dont mind shifting it allows me to keep my bike in its best power range. I also run an 11 tooth sprocket. If you use a 185 sproket retainer it wont rub on the chain. Like I said tight woods with lots of elevation changes.
I went riding with several guys a couple of month ago at Disney, Oklahoma. A tight trails area like I am used to. We had 4 trikes and several 4 wheelers that we rode with. In the tight trails I could hang with all of them including the ATC 250r and the Suzuki 400 quad. The best thing about the trip was when a rider on a warrior started mouthing off that he could out climb any atc. So I climbed a monster hill and he couldn't. Then I dusted his tale on the way back to the trucks. LOL
Dont count out the six speed conversion for a mod if you have a lot of tight or steep areas. It probable wont do you much good if you are a light rider or ride in open areas only. No matter how much you mod dont expect to out run the new sport quads on any kind of open ground.

Powroll racing is the place for the 200X. They have strker kits, hi comp. pistons, cams, ect. You can also port the head, and get a pipe. Mine can beat a 350X and its ported, piped, has a cam, and a couple other little things.
