Well I got the stock air box connected to the XR200R carb, it involved cutting the end off the boot which runs from the box to the carb and I bought a plumbing connector at the hardware store which fit the carb and inserted the other end into the cut off boot. Then sealed all the gaps where they came together with black silicone.

I was going to use a short piece of radiator hose but they are a little thicker than the rubber plumbing sleeve and since there is soooo little room between the carb and the shock bolt to start with I dicided to go with the thinner of the two.

I did take it out in the snow and it didn't suck any snow into the carb like the old clamp-on K&N.

I don't think we can post pics within posts, but we can link pics.

I put a pic of the airbox boot mod for the XR200R carb on my pic page, it doesn't show much detail on the machine.

The trike looks good!

Thanks for posting the pic. I now understand exactly what you did. From what's I've heard, it's just about impossible to get the stock boot over a larger carb.

haywood,

Nice ride!! Like the flame touch.

The intake manifold on the 1984 XR200 [Non R model] is the intake manifold that aligns the carburetor directly to the 200X air intake pipe.....but those intakes were discontinued by Honda years ago....and that model happens to be the hardest to find in the salvage yards.

Knowsalot,
Did you ever come up with a custom manifold? I know awhile back you had mentioned possibly fabbing one up.

'83-'85 200X 16210-965-000
'86-'93 XR200R 16210-KTO-000
'80-'84 XR200 non-r 16210-446-000......shorter and sends carb up and to the right where the carb would be at about a 45 degree angle from horizontal!!!!!

The 86 and newer intakes are almost the same other than the relationship between the carb mount holes and the port.

I have a brand new non-r and stock 200x intake, I'll take a pic and put it on my pic page ASAP

Jeff
