Hi!
Does anyone know how you can tell the year on a Yamaha 225DR Trike. It's got black plastic on it and a red frame. I have looked everywhere on the net and cannot find another with the red frame. It's definitly the original yamaha paint too. I know it's never been repainted. If anyone knows that would be great.
Thanks

225DR was the newer brother to the 225DX. DR had reverse, DX did not. we had a DX, some friends had a DR.
i think the DR came out in '84 or '85. both are built good and are not too bad performers, especially in water. its amazing some of the crap that thing went thru.
here is link to yamaha history. the DR is not listed but it does list the DX as coming out in 1983. it was about a yr or 2 when the DR arrived.

Thanks for all the input. I think I figured out it's an 86 225DRS. I was searching for just 225DR that's why I couldn't find anything. It turns out they made a Special Edition one in 86 called the 225DRS. It had black plastic with a red frame, and it also had gold forks and wheels. Sure enough I peeled the black spray paint off the wheels and they are gold. I cleaned the forks up and they look great. Too bad the bike is in overall rough shape because it has to be a rare one. I still might try and restore it. The red frame is excellent. If someone didn't cover all the plastic with spray paint it would look pretty nice. If I restore it I will post some pics when it's done.
Thanks
