Default 83R carb

I recently installed a keihin 36mm pj carb on my 83. I went with a 48 pilot, needle in the middle spot, and a 140 main. I took it out for about 10 minutes and the piston locked up. I took it apart and it looked like it leaned out. I rebuilt it but I'm wondering if this motor can handle that carb. Anyone know where I should start with the jets. I think the pilot is fine, but I'm going to go up to 165 and start from there. Any suggestions?
