I am so tired of seeing people taking 350x atc's and putting the motors on 250x/300EX fourwheelers. There making creations that arent worth as much as what they had in the first place. I really dont understand why it is that I have 20 ATC's and i cant get my hands on a 350 to save my life but the average joe with a fourwheeler that wants to kill the 3-wheeler can find one any day of the week and 2 on sunday.... Sorry i just had to vent cause the very thought is making me sick..

 

the best engine design honda made for the atc on 4 stroke class 85-86. people are scared of the 3 wheeler so they use up the engines on that whimpy 250x. oh well just a waste of time.

 

Why is it that for the three wheeler the 350x seems to coveted over a 250r but for four wheelers the 250r is king and the 400EX (which is the same engine design as the 350x) is shunned as a weak performer. Am I missing something here. My buddie has a 86 350x and I've rode it and I don't think its as fast as my ATC250r.

 

I think it's just a matter of preference between the trike R and X. In the quad field, stock for stock the R and EX are very similar as far as HP numbers go, but start modding them and you'll see why the R was/is more coveted than the EX.

 

I saw a response to this on a trike site that I thought was pretty good.

After the 250R quad was shelved, there really wasn't much out there for the quad guys. As far as performance, the Honda 250X was pretty much it. The only way get more performance out of that was to shoehorn a 350X engine in there. Before the new high performance quads came out, that's all they really could do. Now, with more choices out there, there's really no excuse to stuff a trike engine in a quad frame.

 

yeah they should just get a 400ex and then they get something with a frame that is made for the motor in the first place.
