I found a 1987 Honda 250SX, for $1000 in the local paper. I only have limited knowledge on 3-wheelers and was wondering if this would be worth looking into. Could u guys give me some more information on it? Is it worth my time?

 

The last year for trikes to be built in the US is '86. I haven't seen a 250sx in years, but they are pretty bulletproof. They have an auto clutch and are a god all around ride. Somewhat sporty, with some utility built in. Any machine that has survived almost 20 years is not likely to be a lemon. If it is in good shape, might be a decent buy.

 

I believe there were a few 87 models built. The 250 sx shares the same engine with the 250 fourtrax and 250 big red. The famous 300 trx was built on this design. For 1000$ it needs to be in awesome condition. (I'd still offer less) There were only 3 honda ATCs that were sportier than the 250 sx. The 250r, 350x, and 200x. The 250sx would give the pre-1986 200x's a run for their money.

They were not a lemon.

I plan on buying one myself one of these days. They kind of hold a special place in my heart.

 

I say jump on it if its in good shape, Being an 87 model makes it a rarer (sp?) machine to because of the limited amount of 87 models out there.
