Why not delete air box?
I'm talking about using a clamp-on style filter directley onto the carb. Other than the funny look of the whole air box missing what harm would this be? In a very dusty enviroment the air box may be useful but what if not in that type enviroment?
thanks for input....

Why not delete air box?
I have owned an 83 200x that I completely rebuilt with pretty extensive mod's ( pipe, cam, head port & Polish, 28 mm carb) back in 1988. It breathes with no air box and a K&N directly on the carb. It has been riden extensively in Glamis and Gordons Wells sand dunes with zero problems to date. In fact my 15 yr old daugher now rides it and it gets little rest. I have still never touched the motor since the rebuild other than regular maint.
However, if you choose to run the airfilter in this manner I would definatley use an outerware prefilter over the K&N.
Good Luck!
