tecate vs yfz450
#11
the tecate is a trike. it is all stock and never been rebulit cuz hes owned it form day one. the 450f has a top speed close to the tecate but off the line the tecate leaves it in the smoke and the 450f cant catch up for the life of it.
does anyone know the top speed of an 1994 rm 125 ( its slighty modded), and how well it would do verse the tecate an the 450f in a drag race

A 20 y/o Tecate motor that hasn't been rebuilt- I can't beleive that. Said engine/trike beating a new YFZ I doubt even more. At some point he had to at least rebore that piston. I still think one with a fresh motor will take a YFZ though.

hey david j. whats up i see u got the big red 84' i also have it, i must say my god the thing get for ever on one tank of gass nothing like my tecate but lemmy get to the point of this, my big red has welds on one side of my axle houseing and my chain kept falling off so i took off the rear brake and put a bolt and a lock nut on it and i havent had problems since but just, july 24 bob bros friend wanted to drive it and crased it into a PARKED SEMI TRICK i dont know how stupid you have to be to do that but i was just wondering if youve ever had rear axel housing moving around problems
the big red suffered a little dammage just some bent forks and broke front plastics its not cool that the plastics will cost more then the forks but man the thing is such a work horse its just nice to see that some one eles has the big red 84 First year of the es on em

i actually have an 83 too( really beat, the 84 isnt). i think the 84 is prolly the best big red ever. it was the 1st year with shaft drive and reverse. the 250 came out the next year, but it dosent have low range. as far as problems, i havent had that one, but it is having an electrical problem that makes it shut off once it gets hot. i dont ride it much anyway, but i'll get it fixed eventually and will get a pic sometime of it

Stock vs stock if both were running right my money is on the tecate taking the Yfz. They have around 33hp and weigh like 280lbs a yfz has 37hp and weighs 350lbs, plus the tecate has less drag with only 1 wheel in front. Most people are so ignorant when it comes to trikes. I mean back in the day these would take banshees and from what I've seen/ heard the older banshees are a bit faster then the new ones. Even dyno runs say they have 10 more hp then new ones (dirt wheels 87-45hp 2002-35 or around there) Everyone forgets that the 80s was when atvs where made good from the factory with out the fear that companys have now.
