tecate vs yfz450
#21
I don't know about a Tecate specifically the 86-87, they were the cream of the crop and would take a YFZ or YTX450r in a drag no problem. Hell I have an almost stock 86 ATC 250R and in drags it spanks my 05 TRX 450R badly no matter who drives what. My buddy Chris had a decently built Tri-z (stock it was slower than a stock 85-86 ATC250R or 86-87 T-3) and it spanked a Piped and jetted YFZ easily several times. People that missed out on the 3wheelers of the 80's have no clue. By the way the YFZ isn't as bad *** as some of the children on this board think it is. My 86 ATC 250 is running on its 1st bore and has no special porting done to it, it also has the stock round slide carb and FMF pipe so it isn't far from stock. My 85 R is a big bore and it really spanks the new quads bad, in a drag race! So children calling BS on a stock T-3 taking a YFZ in a drag are STUPID! The T-3 rider would have to be terrible to lose to a stock YFZ!

YFZ piped and filtered beating a piped and filtered 2stroke 3wheeler? Not going to happen unless the guy riding the 3wheeler is a complete boob! YFZ isn't all that, people don't believe the hype! Some people kill me with this YFZ beats...... crap! Not dragracing!

Well I have 2 3wheelers and the 450R and here on the dirt (not sand) it would impress me to see a piped and jetted YFZ beat even my mostly stock 86 R. I beat the crap out of that mildly built Tri-z and it smoked the piped and jetted YFZ everytime on dirt with both riders being equal and even swapping rides a couple of times. I for one am not real impressed with the YFZ or 450R in drag races! The 450R is stock and close to the YFZ in stock form. The 450R suffered a similiar fate when drag racing the Tri-Z. He beat me by a little more in the same field! Sand drags mean absolutely nothing here, we never get to ride on the sand! We race on hard packed ground so the true test of the machine isn't altered by power robbing sand! Minus the occasional trip to the beach where the speed limit is strictly enforced at 35mph, there is no place to ride in sand much less drag race in it! HAHA!

alter buy sand!!!! tell that to all the sand draggers.
go to any drag strip sand or dirt, strap on some paddles & see what happens.
to bad we are not closer i would show you how my wifes bolt on rappy runs against your trike.

Why would i run paddles on the dirt? Raptor? LOL <<<gets killed by 3wheelers. I am talking running on dirt in real circumstances. No one around here has paddles! LOL We don't have any need for them. They would make a quad or 3 wheeler ride like doodoo on our hard packed ground! I still say the YFZ is alot of hype! Raptor please, the YFZ and 450R will beat it when equipped with similiar mods. Oh well it too bad you aren't closer, or I'd race you! We'd see then!

344pv's right and that example has been made out of my trike plenty of times and my 250 had more than a pipe.
