A friend of mines parents bought a farm house up in wisconsin and it came with a few machines, an 89 honda 300, and an 89 big red three wheeler. It is shaft drive, front and rear susp with f/r racks and electric start. Is this the 200 model? It seems to be in pretty good overall shape, and runs pretty well.

What is somthing like this worth?

 

its a 250 and. they didint make trikes in 89 i belive.......should get some good $ for it like 600- 1k

 

Hmm my buddies dad was under the assumption both machines were 89's (I thought 89 was the last year of the atc's from honda, or was it 88?)

 

It was 1987 and there were only a few that made it to the dealers..

 

The big reds were made longer then the rest.

If you look on the down tube just infront of the gas tank, there should be a sticker/tag on the frame that says when the red was produced if its produced after may it should be for the next model year. 6/85= 1986 model.

I'm not positve on the month though. They make excelent casual trail riders and can run with the best of them.

 

Before I got into atving I was only on ATC's. I got 99% of my riding experience on a 1985 honda 110! (those things had some scoot for a 110!) I then graduated up to my cousins 1985 250sx (I beleive it was an sx...whatever it was it HAULED)

They are wanting to sell it and I wish they wouldnt because I have a blast on that thing! (I forgot how damn easy it is to wheelie those things!)

 

well in have you ever heard the saying feels like were in heavin since all thoes blasted 3 wheeler mashens died in 87, thats a lie honda made big reds and fo what i have heard there where 3 in the us i have one dad bought it from a farmer , ones other is in uk, and one is in au, and like i said i have a 1985 250sx 2 and it will do a wheely so easy as my friend on his 2005 250 ex can barly do one makes me look good i have a 450r just 2 beat the 660r raptor and trust me it will, my 250r will beat a raptor untell we get in 4th gear

umm... ok.... kind of confused by what you just said. You are saying there were only 3 big reds ever made? lol, I just had to do some research on atc's/atv's for a speech I just did, and my research (and the fact that I have ridden 3-4 different big reds) goes against what you state (that there are only 3 in the world?)

 

lol im sorry i was wrighting at 3am, no honda made thousands of big reds 1982-1987 but you said you had a 89 never heard of it but the last 3 wheeler honda made was a 1988 big red es and there are only 3 88 that we have found so far ever on thoght they stoped in 87

 

They stopped in 88* I just did a whole lot of research on it. The cspc had concerns, and the gov wasnt too happy with all the injuries on them either. What happened, was they made the 88's, dealers had some of them, but when they banned them, the manufacturers had to buy back dealer remaining stock, so some did get sold (but apparently not many).

Anyway, the unit is an 88 confirmed by the title.
