Cam Chain Help
#1
I'm in the process of tearing my top end apart for a rebuild but i'm kinda stuck now. I've been following my service manual very closely on the disassembly of the motor but i still can't see how to get the cam chain off of the sprocket. Is there some way of loosening the chain so i can slip it off of the sprocket? If not then how is it supposed to come off? Thx.

Well not exactly, see the manual i have forgot to specify that you had to take the cam chain tensioner all the way out while i only took the main bolt out. Good lord what a difference it made when it was out! lol. So now i have everything apart and i'm tryin to see if the bore is stock, i'm almost 99% sure it is but there is HF-2 stamped on the side of the piston then HA5 below it. Does this sound stock or does the 2 mean .20 over? I need some help asap cuz i'm wantin to order my stuff so i can get back ridin soon. Thx.

Well my grandpa and I finally decided that this was the original piston put in there from the factory 20 years ago so no wonder this thing was feeling a little under powered. Oh and another thing the piston had about a little over an eigth of an inch of carbon buildup on the top and it looked really wavy and a little bit grooved. Right now i've got my wiesco 10:5:1 on the way and my cam from webcycle cams, so do you think this'll give me a pretty good boost in power over what i had?
