Default 350X brakes brake caliper

okay guys. i've done a search on the site but cant seem to find an anwser i'm satisfied with. i need a new or used rear brake caliper for my '85 350X. will a 300ex or 400ex or any other bike be able to be used for it? i asked the dealership today and they had no idea. any help? any for sure anwsers? i gotta get out and go riding!!! thanks! your site rocks

The 400ex and the 300 calipers are the same as a 350x. The only difference is the way the mount in the rear, both the 300 and the 400 mount like the 86' 350x (they mount on a bracket that doesn't move on the bearing carrier). While the 85' 350x has a little linkage that mounts to the swing arm to keep it from moving. Hope this helps. Later.

any way to rig it to fit it to the '85 do you think?

The only way it would work is if you bought a 300ex rear carrier and bought a caliper bracket stay for the 300, or you could see if the old linkage bracket for the 85' 350x would bolt on to the caliper. I'm not sure about the second option but i'm 100% sure of the first one, besides if you bought a new 300ex carrier that would leave you open to a world's difference of options on aftermarket axles. Just my $.02. Later.
