i was looking at geting a pipe for my 84 r and the only thing i saw diffrent was the aftermarket one i bigger then the stock . so i was wondering could u cut the stock pipe and add pices of metal and weld it to make it bigger. would that make any diffrents or is it just a wast of time and sould i just get the full system dg for it.

Will it work? yes.

Will it work very well? No, not unless you are extremely lucky.

There is a tremendous amount of research and development that goes into the internal and extermal design of exhaust pipes. Buy the full system.
