hello. We stopped in at a place because i saw a three wheeler it is a 200m not sure what year maybe 1984? he was not home so we left a note. he called back and said he wanted to sell it for $250 thats it!! its in awsome shape but fouls the plug he said. could that be the rings or to much gas? anyway it has been sitting for over a year now with gas in it and it wont start so hes selling it. its got electric start and everything. is this a good deal? were going to pick it up today so i was wondering what i should do to get it running again besides drain the gas out and change the plug and oil? i think the battery is pretty well garbage. he sprayed gas in the carb and it fire right up but the old gas shut it down. he must really want to sell it if he has it all ready to go for us.

 

Sounds like a good deal to me. You probably need to clean out the carb also. I would also charge the battery so your motor doesnt have to strain to charge it. It could be fouling out plugs either because of too much gas or it might need rings depends on what the spark plug looks like if it has oil on it, it may need rings. If it is soaked in gas its getting too much fuel. Yeah I also just got a deal at an action I got a 1987 cr80 for 150 and i got it to run yesterday but it needs a new piston and maybe bore. but 250 and have a good running bike is not bad.

 

we just got home and the guy i guess just added more fuel and it fired right up it smokes a bit so thats the problem. its a 1984. im going to change the oil and clean carb. when it is running it sometimes has a lowed grinding noise inside? what could that be? the battery is garbage because its froze

 

is the noise when your riding? Idleing? or what? it could smoke because it has sat so long and you might get lucky and it could go away.

 

it is definatly the rings because the smoke wont go away. it does the noise all the time it will sometimes stop and it will go again. if your idleing the noise will amost stall it so i think the gears somewhere are grinding?

well I dont know what the noise could be. I would tear the top end open and get new rings and everything you need bore maybe. check in there see if anything looks wrong in there and go from there other then that dont know. She looks like a beauty!

You stole it at that price! I saw a gas tank at a swap meet last summer and the guy wanted more for it than you paid for the whole bike.
Did you get the other one running well yet?

 

well i got it to run good but is has hardly any power my dad can bearly ride it and it boggs down but the 200m has lots of power. i dont think it needs rings because you cant see it smoking unless you look directly into the muffler. it has a cobra muffler on it and it sounds sweet! ill post a pic of it soon

 

Then you may need to rebuild the top end with a new cam and everything. Maybe your cam is worn. maybe it could be off timeing. Just a few thoughts. I got my dirt bike torn apart and the piston ring has bent and dug itself into the piston and scared the piston wall.
