Default 1982 ATC 250R Jetting

I put a new pipe on and now it acts like its loading up. I know I need to re-jet but if its loading up do I need to go down on the jetting. Any info would be appreciated. Email me at badams270@msn.com.

hi whats the plug look like ?
what kind of oil do you use?- i use klotz it is verry good oil-32:1 in my air cooled kx -it burns clean ,and reduces carbon buildup ,and should eliminate ( oil drool)-from not burning all the way
change the silencer packing material
check the reeds ,make sure there not worne out
the plug needs to be a tan color from bottom -to mid ,and on top end!! it should be close to the same
does it need new rings?-how old are they?
does it use crank oil??--- it might have a blown right side oil seal,or bad center case gasket ,and will burn crank oil as well as the premix oil

---- bigger jetts-allow more fuel ,and oil!!!! not just fuel unless it is a oil injected model
--to change that -mix less oil

why is it loading up??-- bad plug?-- too much premix oil?,jetted too big? need new rings?
bad reeds?
check these things----- i hope this helps you

All good points Crazy, but how did it run before you put the pipe on? Did you mess with anything else but the pipe? Typically, you should need to jet up a bit for an aftermarket a pipe from stock, but not too extreme. Change the plug and give her a good moderate run and check the plug again. Should be a beautiful choclate brown after the run.
