250r some minor issues
#1
my friend got a new used 250 r from a guy .. it seems to be in decent condition.. guy said he rebuilt the motor.. well now we seem to be having a few problems with it.. 1st the base gaskets leaking a little bit of anti freeze.. anyone know the torque specs for that by chance? maybe it just needs to be re tightened or something. thats what were hoping for.. and the second problem is we cant seem to adjust the carb to get it to stop bogging on take off. Could it be jetted wrong ? As far as i know its not boored over any.. its got a DG gold series pipe on it . runs good accept for the bogs on take off. i geuss he took the float bowl off and cleaned that out.. we havent tore the whole carb down yet.. thats going to be one of the next steps when i get over there to help him out with it.. the bogging is really wierd though.. we thought we had it mostly taken care of the other day when we adjusted the carb.. but i geuss the next time he rode it the bogging came right back again ? any ideas.. ? Thanks for the help

I would try just retightening it until the nuts are pretty snug. If they are not loose then you will need to replace the gasket at the very least. Hopefully the case isn't damaged. As far as the carb, sounds like your float could be sticking. It may need rejetting. If the engine was rebuilt, I seriously doubt it hasn't been rebored or at least honed out. We are talking about a 20+ year old trike. Not many out there still stock unless it was rebuilt back to stock specs. Not likely though. Good luck and keep us posted.
