Hi Ladies and Gents.
I am a brand new member here. This is my first post.
I just picked up a 85 Honda 200x. It has an after market compition exaust on it.
In my neck of the woods the people are real touchy and sensitive to the noise levels as they pertain to off road machines. so my question is , can anyone recommend an aftermarket muffler or silencer to quite my machine down,or would you recommend going back to the original Honda exaust system?

If you can find an original equipment one in good shape that is what i would go with. I have seen people screw a lawnmower muffler in the end of their pipes to quiet them down if you are looking for the cheaper alternative. I know some people might say somthing about hp loss but in fact a 5hp b&s engine has more displacement than your trike. So the flow would be fine.

I have heard people that are very pleased with the Cobra exhaust system. They say its not annoying and its still lounder then stock. But sence your wanting to go quiter then I would just go ahead and get the stock muffler.

The Cobra is one of the loudest exhaust made for the 200x, if it needs to be quite STAY AWAY from the Cobra.

Fortunatly we found a stock muffler on line at a reasonable price.
I am sure it will be quiter than the DG pipe that is on there now.
Is it popssible to make it even more quite by adding a silencer ,etc, to the stock muffler,or is the stock pipe as good as it gets?

If the baffleing is good in the stock muffler then you should be about as quite as that thing will get with it running LOL.

 

Are you going to sell your DG pipe any time soon? :-D
