Two quick questions:
There is black oil like substance coming out around the cylinder at the exhaust port. Is that a sign of weak rings? Or is that normal? It's not a lot, but it is noticeable, I don't have the copper ring on the exhaust yet, cause I know I'm going to have to pull the engine one more tome to work on the tranny yet again.

Next question: Are there any motors other than the 250R motor that will bolt directly up to the frame of an 81 250R? I've got an extra frame and everything else, and I'd like to put something with a semi-automatic tranny in i.e. 185/200 to make an ice fishing rig? Does anyone know if it can be done without a welder...which I don't own.
Thanks
Shawn

Some creative motor mounts might help ya out for the motor mount. OH wait no it wont isnt your sproket on the right side not the left??? If you cant flip it over you wont be able to do it... About the oil I think it MIGHT just be unburnt oil from your gas mixture I think. I dont know for sure I am not too familiar with 2 stroke motors.

Well I finally surrendered and took it into a local cycle shop. He pulled the case and found that the last person assembled it incorrectly. Something to do with the shift drum. So, now that the tranny is fixed I'm having him go ahead and repair a bolt mount on the top of the right side case. After all is said and done it should be a pretty mean machine.
I"m just not sure how fond I am going to be with a manual clutch trike. I've always owned the semi auto's with the centrifigal clutches and really liked the simplicity of driving them.
