Will a 1986 or other years 250 three wheeler/ wheeler engine work in a 1983 cr250 bike?

I called the honda dealer the kick starter is on the wrong side so it wont work.

This may seem far fetched for some of you experts but im a rookie at differences in models. I have an 84 250r the engine needs to be rebuilt but before i go about that i was looking into putting an 85 or newer motor in my 84 frame. I would not be surprised if the mounts are different but would like to know. Also just so you dont get frusterated with my question i understand there are significant differences in the two frames like sprocket and brake location but is it possible to interchange swingarms between the 84 and 85? Thanks for anyhelp i can get.

Also there isn't anywhere to mount the radiators required for the 85 or newer engine. There isn't anything interchangable between 84 and newer models. They totally changed everything after 84. Then some engine mods on the TRX250R(long rod) after 86. 83 and 84 are the same.

The Honda dealer was wrong. The kickstarter is on the same side, but the on CR250 you kick it back and on 250R you kick it forward.

As far as the engine mounts I doubt they are the same, but if you know a good welder you could probably fix that. I am pretty sure the pipe will work fine. Also not sure about the swingarm mount.
