Default HELP NEEDED !!! --- INFO ON MY HONDA ATC 200

i just got a Honda 3 wheeler. I just needed something to get me into some new areas to set up deer blinds, and feeders. in order to hunt some areas where i cannot get a truck in to load up my Deer and Wild Hogs in the woods.

i am not sure what year or model it is, i am assuming it is a 1981 - 1983 ATC 200 .. or maybe a 185 . if anyone has any opinion on its year and model, please let me know.

PICTURES

the guy i got it from, just cleaned the Carb, cleaned Gas tank and put a new spark plug in it. what else should be done??
i have read that it takes 1.5 quarts of oil, but what oil is best?
is there a Oil filer, and where?

air filter location?
Fuel Filter?

it usually starts right up w/ 1 or 2 pulls.. but sometimes it also seems to take forever untill my arm hurts before it starts.
what can be done to help it start right up everytime?

i am a decent car mechanic, but im almost clueless when it comes to these small, pull start engines.

any idea what year and model this is?

i am thinking if i guess it at 1982 ATC200 i would assume just about any parts for that model will work on mine. i hope.

is there any other fluids to change other than the oil?
i want to change out all and any fluids. what type of oil should i use??
10w40 ????

what else can and should be done to keep this thing starting easily.. running good.. and reliable.

i have same atc the air fillter is located under the seat and with old bikes you might want to check bearings and check ebay for a new one remember its about 25 years old so it might not just crack up ? but before you try to cranc it put on choke and give it gas than crank

i found the air filter, about an hour before your posts.
i could not get the whole seat off but then again... its late at night, and cold outside so i didnt give it all my effort either.

most of the time, it actually cranks right up w/ 1 or 2 pulls.
but when the motors cold, i have been trying to different things.. w/ choke, and giving gas before start... being careful not to flood it.

the choke goes in 3 different positions..
so i fool around w/ each position.

what type of oil should i use in this thing?
and what year is yours?
can you tell what year and model mine is?

i just thought about this maybe try to adjust your idle up on the carberator or adjust the floter just a little bit or maybe a new sparkplug try a spark plud if yours is old i tjink it a 84 almost positive but like i seid its about 25 years old so it might never crank firts try expecally when its cold out side also theres not much you can do but idk now mine starts first time every time no problem so but mine was also kept in a shed for 14 years in very good condition .and the choke all the way up is closed middle is half and bottom allows it to move freelly

Default HELP NEEDED !!! --- INFO ON MY HONDA ATC 200

it looks to me like an 82 185s or 200 . look at the cylinder base on one of the sides it will have either 180cm or 192cm stamped into the metal . 180 is atc185s and 192 is atc200 . either way both machines are nearly identical just different size piston and bore...

Default HELP NEEDED !!! --- INFO ON MY HONDA ATC 200

My wife has an 83 Honda 200ATC here is a pic of it

we did have a prob. with plugs , it would fire but spark was not always Hot enough put in new plug starts right up.
we use 10w40 motorcycle oil, just DONT use oil that has the energy consewrvation label on it. that is bad. screws up clutches.

check your pull rope, at that age they break when least expect it , that too just happened.
we are guessing at the yr of her bike also but it is a 200 by the cylinder markings.
gas tank stripes can tell the year also if it was never changed or painted.
