There is a strange looking hole in the head of my 84 atc70 that looks like a burn hole. I bought this atc at our local flea market for $50 - not running but complete, and in very good condition. I am going to use it as our campbike. It has decent compression, but leaks down fast. I removed the head and inspected the hole further. I noticed that when I shined a flashlight into that strange looking burn hole, I saw the light coming thru to the other side of the head in one of the channels where the bolts hold the head on. I am thinking that the burn hole isn't a burn hole, but a break in the head exposing a void in the head. Is this making sense? The thing I can't figure out, is that hole is (was) packed full of dirt. Which makes me think It was being used this way before I bought it. So I get online and start pricing new heads to find, in the pictures, the new heads with this SAME hole in the SAME spot. If indeed this is normal, why is that hole there. It looks ugly as hell. Any help would be appreciated. I was going to post a couple photos, but don't see anywhere on here where you can. Thanks in advance.
