Default Electrical issue on '80 Honda 110

I recently purchased two 110s, and have gotten one running fairly well, so it is time to start on the other. It is an 80 110 honda and seems to have good compression, but has no spark.

I've got the clymer manual, but no real electrical test stuff. I checked the switch on the handle bars and the wiring appears to be in good shape. This is the last year before the CDI, so I got new points (or point as it only has one ), and that isn't helping either. Is it the coil? or could it be something else? Any thoughts?

i would first check the coil because if your not getting a spark to the plug wire then obviously you arent getting spark at the coil,so start there. my friend owns some of those 110's so i know a little bit about them.let me know if you need answers and if it was the coil....

Yes I agree, test the stator coil first. In your manual it should give you some resistance specs, all you need is a multi tester. Good luck getting the flywheel off though, as the last time it was off was probably 1980. The best thing to do is get a special puller, although you can try a mallet, just don't damage the magnets or crank.

you shouldnt have to pull your flywheel to check your stator, should be able to pop the cover off and perform your tests...

Oh, right I had forgotten that the plug sticks out through the case.

Okay...you think it is the coil on the outside? The black piece that is goes to the spark plug? or do you think it is the stator coil inside the flywheel? I'm just trying to figure out which it is before I buy a special puller and the stator. The coil on the outside is like $65 at dratv and I'd rather not spend $65 if I don't have to.

you can test the stator with multi meter doing an ohms and resistance test. i would bet though that your ignition coil has went out.very common on hondas that old man.yes the one the spark plug wire connects to,they sell ignition coil testers as well bro....
