I brought up the Raptor/Banshee/DS650, not to start an argument with you about if the Banshee was faster than a Raptor, but to point out that both are faster than a STOCK 250R and both put up mid 30's RWHP. 375/27 = 13.88 lb/hp

350X - 325lbs as specified by Honda - it commonly reads approx 22 HP at the tires

325/22 = 14.77 lb/hp

Throw in a little fudge factor either way, and the 400EX still has the more powerful engine & is commonly faster, especially thru the top end of the powerband. Again, I OWN both - and my immediate family has owned at least 5 ATC350X's both 85's and 86's over the years, at least 2 that I can think of were purchased brand new. Consider my CLOSE friends, and make that number at least 10 350X's - in other words, I KNOW the 350X..

On to "Tuning" vs "Detuning" semantics.
What do you think that low end and mid range tuning does to peak HP numbers???? Isn't that what we were talking about? What does a powervalve do? The powervalve increases low and mid range power without sacrificing top - guess what that means - a current CR250 has more bottom, more mid, and more top than a ATC/TRX 250R engine. Powervalves are not the only difference in these engines. HELLO!

Why don't you try attending a race sometime. You'll see plenty of 400EX's at the local level, the state level, and the national level.

Why can you still get $7000 for a bone stock 250R, if you could spend less than that on a machine thats 12 years newer? The ATC 350X weighs 320 as specified by Honda and makes 23 RWHP=13.9 lbs per hp and the 400ex weighs 375 as specified by honda and makes 25 Showroom stock RWHP= 15 lbs per hp.350Xspecs
