should the headlight light up when i try to crank?.if the switch is turned to on position?.getting an orange spark now when i had blue spark with brand new plug. could my plug be bad?

 

Yes your headlight should start to light up as you crank the engine, if the light is turned on. So what your saying is when you just got a new plug your spark was blue and now its orange? How long ago was this? It is a good idea to replace your plug every now and then. What is it like $4 for a pack of 2?

its an 82 model.i purchased a used motor from ebay. got everthing ready and it cranked an ran fine.next morning cranked it an was warming it up and it died out and will not crank. i also noticed that when i pull the rope the headlight dosent light up.could it be the primary or secondary coil? i need all the help i can get

yes bike is an 82 model and im getting fire but its orange now when it was blue.but my headlight dosent come on when i crank it. ive got a puller for the flywheel and another set of coils.just need to know how to check them to see if they are good

What you want to do is test the resistance on the connections at the stator plug. You will need a Multi Meter.
