i have a 85 350x.rebuilt top end.the thing does not want to kickstart we have to pull it.it runs great ,but even after pull starting and shutting off still does not want kickstart.we double checked timin.thats good. any ideas? thanks oh yeah it would kickstart before rebuild

 

Check the compression, then the valve lash..

 

If it's like my 86' then it's a bear to kickstart even with the compression release which I don't know if the 85's have, anyway what I do is keep the switch off kick it a couple times with full throttle to get gas in the cylinder then switch on full choke and kick the crap out of it still with full throttle. That works for me. Everybody that I know has a different way to start them. It's like no 2 are the same just need to find out what works.
