I have a chance to get an 85 atc 250r in close to perfect stock condition for $1500. But I also can get a near perfect stock 86 tri-z 250 yamaha for $1100...which one should i get...which is better...faster...I know the honda will have way more aftermarket things but i just wanna know how they both compare stock to stock.

If they're both in real nice shape the prices are right. the 250r will be a little faster, but you are almost guaranteed to be the only guy on the block in a tri-z.

Well, from my profile, you'll see that I'm biased, but not completely. 250X is right about having the only Z around, but that has + and - 's. Parts, for example, are already harder to find for the Z. The popularity of the TRX on the race tracks has helped keep a steady supply of parts for the Honda. I'd get the Honda...it's faster too.

Not the only guy partner I'd take the Z, I like having something somewhat different and parts haven't been a problem for me.Let us know what you do.

Well I went and looked at the tri-z today. It is in great shape and definetly could beat my 350x. I am going either tomorrow or sunday to look at the 250r. Then I guess i'll make my decission after seeing both of them. But at the moment i'm all for the tri-z. But I can see changing my mind.
