I have 2 ATC 70, 83 and 84, they were my wife's and her sister. The trikes have not ran in roughly 25 years. Any suggestions on preparing the resurrection of both? I took off the carb on the 83 and was severely lacquered. The metal lines on bottom of tank were stopped up but have broken through with stiff pipe cleaner. Also the 84 locks up when I am pushing it although it is in neautral. Both are extremely clean and have been in my inlaws basement. Any and all suggestions welcomed. I have a haynes manual but the trouble shooting part is pretty thin. my sons are chomping at the bit to ride with me in near future.

If you are not going to be digging into the motors, just trying to get them running, I suggest some Liquid wrench or WD-40 down the spark plug hole and slowly pulling the recoil to get it into the piston to free up the rings , then let it sit overnight and maybe a bit of fresh engine oil to make sure you don't score the jug trying to start it, may smoke or foul a plug at first, but better than putting deep gouges in the cylinder. You may be able to save the carbs if you can find a jug of liquid carb cleaner, and just throw the metal parts in and let them soak for a day or so, I would do a leak check on the tanks to see if they have rusted through anywhere. Sounds like a couple of good finds, just hope you can resurrect them. Any place you can grease, I would put fresh lube in, 25 years will turn most grease into wax.

Great info! I used a whole can of carb cleaner and still have "varnish". The carbs definitely need to soak. Will do on spraying something to keep from scoring the inner parts. I really appreciate the recommendations and suggestions.
