I've seen those ramps you're talking about. Mine is a two piece but it folds out to cover the whole tailgate like the ones you're thinking of. I paid $100 for mine from a local truck accessories shop. I like it alot, but I have to remember to use those little straps to tie it to the tailgate bars otherwise it will slip off from the torque of the trike.

Dan,

Thanks for the info. As you know I didn't get the big red yet but am still lookin. Those ramps seem like the ticket. I can see what your talkin about with the straps. I guess you would look pretty silly if you were about half way up and the thing kicked out from under ya. I guess there would be enough room on the side to put the ramp folded between the wheel well and the Red. I have a saddle tool box behind the cab. I am hopein the Red will still get in the 8'bed and be able to close the gate. Maybe not though. Gotta get the Red first huh?

I have used these folding ramps too and they work great. a buddy of mine has one that folds over into 2 sections, and he has a big truck and it works fine, I'm not sure where he got it though.
As far as the big red I have rode one of them and they seem to be a good trike, the only complaint I have is the tires and wheels that are usually on them are all three about the same size and that makes them easy to flip.
I have a honda atc 200x with small racing type wheels and tires on the back with 4" axle extensions, it makes a huge difference in the stablility and handleing of the machine, unfortunately it blew up on me not too long ago.

good luck

Thanks for the help. I'm still lookin for a good Big Red though. For me the ramps that tri fold will probably be the best. Did you make the axle extentions or are they available somewhere? Are they just a bolt on thing?

the extensions are a bolt on, it is just an aluminum spacer that goes between the end of the axle and the wheel, they could very easily be made, mine were on the machine when I got it.

Haha...a friend of mine has a 350x and he loads it into his truck with two ramps a piece of fire wood. He has a full size Chevy! He takes the two ramps and puts them like you would for loading a four wheeler. Then he puts the small piece of wood in between them (it is about 3" around and 8" long). Then he drives up to it and hits the little piece of wood with his front tire and does a wheelie and guns it into the back of the truck. I had never seen such a thing. It would be even more impressive with a Big Red.

If you've got an 8ft bed then it should fit. there's about a foot left at the end of my 6.5' bed when mine is loaded. My dad just pickedup a nice running '86 Big Red for $1300. They're around, just keep looking.
