My plug just started fouling in my 84 200s. But instead of a black wet foul, it's a black dry fluffy foul. I also noticed that when i give the rope a yank, it pulls very easy as though not much compression. Someone suggested to me that the cause is probably the valves adjusted too tight or maybe the stator. If the valves are the problem, not having ever adjusted them before, are there any tricks i should know about to make this job easier? Also, this trike has never had a top end rebuild before. Does it sound piston/ring related?

Yeah it sounds like the valves are to tight. If i'm correct the 200s had the same engine or top end as the 200sx ATV. Adjusting the valves had a different procedure than anything I'd saw before. I never did adjust them the dealer did.
