YAMAHA TRI-Z VS BANSHEE
#2
My 86 (parts) Z has beaten a hopped-up 'Shee. Those 4,5,$6000 rides look awfully pitifull behind a $200, 16 year old antique. That's why I got back into this game! There's no guarantee your Z will win. There are a lot of variables that could put you at a disadvantage. If you lose, do what I do, modify it some more, go back and whoop 'em. I'm currently putting together another 86 Z that I expect to shame cRaptors and shees with.

Back in the days when I used to ride a lot my Tri-Z I race a few
Banshees (89-91 timeframe) and I was faster than most if not all
of them. I do not know how much faster are the newer models
(i.e. 2000 vs 1990) but if they are not much faster you have a
good change in your Tri-Z. I am already done fixing my Tri-Z,
what I am missing now are tires and I already ordered them. That
is a question that I am going to answer soon after my trike is ready.
BTW: My Tri-Z was a LOT faster than a 1986 TRX250R.

The person I bought my parts Z('86, stock bore, stock ports, FMF pipe, Boyesen reeds, stock gearing with 21" tires on rear) is the one who beat a non-stock Banshee in a drag race with it. He also owns a DS650 Bomba-what-ever that he raced against my parts Z when he owned it. He said it made him sick to put so much money in the DS650, only to be beaten by his own worn out TRI-Z. In his own words, he said the TRI would eat the DS. There have been several people who witnessed this Z beat the Banshee try to buy it from me. Funny thing is, it's the slow one.
