mantis,

In your opinion what is the best mod for a Tri-Z? I have one and want to make it a little faster. So far it only has Boyesen Reeds and an Answer silencer. I am planning to add a pipe and silencer combo (LRD), a bigger carb (PJ 36mm) and Barnett clutch. What am I misssing? Let me know!!

if it has 5 gears it is a '85 if it has 6 gears it is a '86. After the pipe, new carb and jetting the next step is to have it ported and polished. I hope you get that bigger carb tuned correctly! how is the suspension?

Mine is a yellow 85 and I have it since new so I am familiar with it. Is it hard to tune a bigger carb correctly? I was also considering a 38mm (TMX or PWK) but I am not sure if it is too big for it. The suspension is stock. I rebuild the front forks about 3 months ago. New fork seals and dust covers with PJ! 15W fork oil. They have no rust where the forks travel. The rear shock was recharged about 10 years ago but it is not leaking. I think it is still in good shape but I am not sure for how long it will be OK. The spring is the stock one sandblasted and painted. The shock shaft has some rust spots on it that I sanded and am using it like that. You can check it out by clicking the link at the bottom of the message.
