Is there a way you can add 6th gear to an 85'250r atc?

 

Doesn't your ATC have 6 gears?

 

The '85 and '86 models were liquid cooled and had the 6 speed trans.

The '81 thru '84 models were air cooled and had the 5 speed trans.

Maybe this will help in either determining what year you really have,...or in the worst case, you have got a bad transmission.

I thought that was the case, it is liquid cooled, so it should have six gears right?, well it only shifts through 5. I had to replace the case when I got it. the tranny looked in pre-mo condtion, could the shift drum be installed wrong and make it seem like a 5 speed? any ideas?
