Atc 250r, Tecate 3, Tri-z 250.....
#14
I live way to far south to know what is going on in Canada. Even if it happened nearly 10 years ago. I have heard of some ATC models sold even in 1988 in some countries, but all of them that I have heard of were '86 models left over with new vin number tags stuck over the original stamping into the steering heads. Not sure about the Canadian models.
Thanks for the supplemental correction Quicksilver

The '87 350x's had white air scoops, a red mudflap, and black fork boots. The '86 model had red air scoops, black mudflap, and blue fork boots.
The '87 250r's had white fenders (front and rear), white air scoops, white headlight assy., and red fork boots. As I'm sure you know, the 85/86 models had red fenders, red air scoops, red headlight assy., and blue fork boots.
Another note: All trikes sold in Canada had reflectors. The '87 350x's and 250r's had reflectors on the grab bar and forks.

I think it depends a lot on the rider and if you got or not a good start. My Tri-Z was and is still VERY fast, just as fast or faster than my brothers modified banshee. If I get a good start he will not catch me (not even in top end) and if he got a good start I will not catch him either. That was before adding an LRD pipe and silencer and a Mikuni TMX 36 carb. I have to try again now nut he also added a cool head with higher compression domes. I used to race many 250R and I was usually faster with all exept one that was a beast in top speed. But again I think the better rider will win the race.

Yes, there were 87 ATC250R's and 350X's in Canada. If you ever find one, buy it, they supposedly are worth alot of money, which makes sense for something so rare. Another side note, if all the CPSC crap didn't happen, there was a rumored ATC500R in the works, but the idea was scrapped

ltracerx,
'87 250r's and 350x's are only worth a lot of money if they're in mint condition. Why? Lack of parts. Try find white OEM plastic for the '87 250r...Impossible. Or white OEM air scoops for the '87 350x...Impossible.
The only way they're worth anything more than the other models is if they have the original plastic on them, still intact.
