350x seats & valve lapping

I had new seats cut in the head on my 350x along with new seals. I am a chrysler mechanic but dont do much engine work (and no motorcylces), let alone rebuilds & valve jobs. Anyways I thought the one intake valve looked crooked. So some of the guys in the shop told me I should fill the head w/ solvent & it should not leak out past the valves. Well, it did. Is this ok? We re-lapped the valves & it leaks less now but still trickles out. Its more noticeable on the intakes bescause the carbon in the exhaust ports soaks up the solvent. I read in my 350x manual that the valves are hardened so I was thinking maybe the valves will eventually seat themselves against the softer seats, kinda find their own home after a while, is this the case, or are they supposed to leak a little bit?
