I just bought a 1984 ATC 250r on ebay and I am going tommorrow to pick it up. I know that it is air cooled and not as fast as the liquid cooled but how does it compare to today's sport quads in terms of performance. I have a modded Banshee but I don't expect it to keep up with it but hey you never know. Thanks for the help.

They are pretty quick, an 85 will eat one alive. It's only got the 5 speed also, so the top end is usually less than 65, more like 60 usually. When you do the top end on it, get it ported for play riding and you can get a pipe for it from LRD if you want to go faster. Just take it easy at first as these are pretty tippy compared to the 85-86. I never had the chance to put one up against a newer sport quad, but I suspect you won't get left in the dust by most of them.

I rebuilding a 85 from the ground up right now. It will be done in 3-4 weeks or less. I got a CT racing 350 powervalve jug for it, I think it's going to be scary fast.
