Does anyone know if a CR250 reed cage will work in a 250R motor? If so does this mod make more power than say a Ram-valve? If it does work what would be the better buy, the Ram-valve or the CR reed setup?-Chris

The reed cage from the '96 CR 250(not later than '96) should work on a 85-86 ATC 250R. It is supposed to be a better design.

Chris, if you do not have a NAC's Racing Catalog you NEED one! They can be reached at 1-914-246-3086. On page 9, of their catalog #9901, they recommend using the reed cage AND manifold. Both together cost around $150. I personally prefer the Boyesen RAD Valve. I have one on my 4-TRAX 310R. It helps low-end especially, but boosts the rev range throughout. It costs about the same AND includes Boyesen Pro Series Carbon Fiber Reeds. Just some food for thought.
