Building the 350X motor for more power
#1
Ok, so I've put on a DG Xcellerator stage 3 pipe, a 36mm round slide carb, uni filter, and 6 airbox lid vents. All this made a big difference, but I want more. I'm going to do a .040 over 10.25to1 piston. I'm also thinking about having the head ported and a cam at the same time. Has anyone ever had the head ported on one of their bikes? Who did it? How effective was it? What cams have you guys used? Any other speed secrets for the 350X motor?

Dude!
sounds like you are going fast enough. Mine is mostly stock for now and cranks. Unless you are going to put the big jug on it, you've done about all you can do. A web cam setup with the hardened rockers will make your motor some alive along with all of your other mods!

Well maybe.
But suspension can limit you even if you have the baddest motor man!
Do you have stock suspension?
I am currently debating suspension upgrades. May be consider.
After all we need to get the power to the GROUND baby!
Yeeeeeahh!

Good point. I have rebuilt the front forks with progressive rate coils. The rear is stock. What upgrades have you done to the rear? I would like to have the shock rebuilt but nobody will touch it because its over 10 years old. Has anyone replaced their rear shock with an aftermarket unit? How much was it? How well did it work?

Call Oscar at Works Performance(rework department).
He just did a shock rebuild for me for another bike.
Anyway a 'heart transplant' is offfered for the ATC350X rear shock and is about $180.
I guess they gut your stock shock and replace the inards with WORKS setup. I don't
have the cash right now but this winter, My shock is going to CALI.....CALI.....
Yeah!
