Questions for Cross-Country racers
What are you cross-country racers running for tires ? And what size? Would you recommend beadlocks or just the wheels with reinforcement rings? Also how wide is your front? Mine’s right at 48 inches is this too wide to race cross-country? One last question, What gear ratio are you running? (Sprockets)
Thanks for your help

I am running razors, 22's on the front and 20's on the back. As for beadlocks how serious are you about racing and do you have the cash. They are a plus but not nearly as important as a dependable motor. Your not racing unless you finish. As close to stock as you can get as far as width goes and you want to run a gear that that smoothes out the power of your machine, not to much bottom and not to much top end will work for starters.

In my Hare Scramble district...I see lots of maxxis razr set-ups. Razr and Razr 2's are great in the soft stuff and mud and very adequate on the hardpack in an mx section. I would highly recommend them. I personally feel they wear better also and you can get a lot more races out of a set of maxxis'. I don't run beadlocks, but I would make sure you have rolled or reinforced beads to take the tree bouncing. If you don't have the reinforcement ring...rims can easily be bent bouncing off trees and rocks. I have the douglas red labels and I really like them.
