Default straightening Honda 250R axle

Is it possable to straighten a bent axle it is not a notacable bend you cant see that it is bent and tell to ride the bike. it bent just before the carrier. I am only asking because someone told me that you could, but i always thought that you couldn't because it weakens the metal

If you can't see the bend with the naked eye AND you can't feel vibration while riding, then how do you know it's bent? Regardless...I wouldn't try to bend such a vital item back into shape...especially since it probably doesn't affect your riding much. Any metal gets weaker if you bend it back and forth enough. You cetainly don't want to be on the recieving end of a snapped axle flying through the air...or worse...a cartwheeling quad as a result of a snapped axle.

you can feel the vibration and if you put it on a satnd and then sart it up and put it in gear you can see it is bent just outside of the carrier. and it has only been bent once so i don't know where you came up with me bending it back and forth i was thinking more of one bend and see if it works but not something i would do often

I didn't mean that you HAVE bent it back and forth...I meant that IF it did get bent once because of a crash or whatever, then you bend it back into shape, IF it does take a bad hit again on the track or trail...it might fail completely. I would personally never try it. If the vibration DOES affect your riding, then I would replace it...if it bothers you that much. Let us know what happens!

I wasn't aware that Dura Blue and Lonestar did straighten bent axles, but I would be willing to bet that if they do, they probably have the axle annealed to soften the metal before bending, then re-heat treat the metal afterwards to recondition the material. I work in a tool and die shop, and I see this all the time. Metal gets stressed from shaping processes, and to recondition it, you have to anneal it and then re-heat treat it. If your axle is a Dura Blue or Lonestar product, then that sounds like the perfect answer...let the professionals handle it, especially since they might even warranty their work? But if the axle in question is stock, I wouldn't try it still. The stock axle on many ATVs is cheaper, mild steel compared to the specialty metals that the performance companies use...it just won't hold up to the abuse as well...especially without being treated before and after.
