Not to start an arguement but you guys dont think in any way that with the emmision laws, and the fact that it was like 14 years old at that time. Yamaha was makeing it to replacce the banshee? Why else did they make it as fast as a stock shee. The could have put a much smaller engine in it and gave it good handleing if they wanted to compete with the 400ex. Just wondering. This is what I was thinking in 01 when I first saw it.

 

Thats a good point. The way I see it is that yamaha made the raptor as big and as fast as it is because it wanted to give the buyer an option for a four stroke that wouldnt be completely destroyed by the 2 strokes. It didnt want its 4 stroke buyers to think they had to sacrafice speed and power for the convenience of a 4 stroke bike.

calm down, EVERYBODY thinks THEIR quad is the best. different quads shine in different areas. the banshee is king of drag and dunes and could keep up w/ most quads in the woods. raptors are great woods quads and could keep up w/ some quads in drag and dunes. but they were made for different purposes. NO quad is the BEST. these company's are paying hundred's of thousands of dollars to the engineers creating these quads, they know what they're doing, so they bike they create is prolly a great bike for the purpose they created it. if your quad will beat his quad in drag, then maybe his will beat yours in woods. NO quad can be king of everything; there's no reason to be arguing. lets just all ride our quads , have a little fun, and if you can, kick some A$$; but don't let it go to your head, it don't mean your quad is the fastest mx, drag, dunes, woods... on the earth. that's just what i think
