When I raced my Banshee in my first ever Harescramble, I still had the thumb throttle and suffered major thumb fatigue. But on a Banshee its even worse because you have two carbs to pull on. I installed a twist throttle later on, and it did take some getting used to, infact I'm still not that good using the twist when hitting the whoops on an MX track.

The best thing to do when racing Harescrambles is to invest in aftermarket skid plates, and a steering dampner.

A twist throttle is not that important. If you are used to riding for a couple of hours and keep the throttle cable clean and replaced you don't need a twist. If you are not used to them all they will do is get you hurt. A few people run them in the GNCC's but I would estimate it at less that 5 percent.

A couple tips I can give you is to pace yourself, mainly because these types of races take endourance, also have good skid plates such as an OMF and run good tires with a stiff side wall like pure sport bandits.
