Default ATV GP @ Horn Rapids ORV park- report

the event went very well... I applaud the tri-cities quad squad for doing an excellent job running the event!

they had recieved a significant ammount of rain during the week & some the night before so the ground was moist, even some standing water in spots.
the first race had the unclassified start 1st, then the rest. unclassifed & youth ran 2 laps, the amature, utility & womens classes all ran three. the start was the best i'd ever seen, no dust hanging in the air at all. since this was the 1st time this club had run a race, they had some difficulty with scoring... i'm not sure what all the results were, katie duncan won the womens class. my brother ran amature & DNF'd, seized the motor on his LT at about 1-1/2 laps.
they had a short break between races to go over the track & check the course markers...
the second race ran both expert & pro on the same line, 20 entries total. it started about 11:15 AM, & track conditions had changed some... the start was dusty, but not unbearably so... i guess the top layer of sand/soil had dried out some. after the start it was not bad at all... the track was pretty smooth for the 1st couple laps & started getting rutted, whooped & rough... it's sand. top finishers got in 7 laps, most made 6. i'm really glad it wasn't much more than an hour long actually, i'm pretty beat! i went in & decided to run expert, not expecting to do very well, & did better than i expected, i took 8th of 13 in expert, 11th of 20 overall with 6 laps, i had a great time.... but i'm feeling it now!

they had a couple kids events going on after the two big races, with prizes & such too. barrel racing & pole bending are cool events for the younger ones not ready for the big track yet, it looked like they were having a blast!

i took advantage of the open track time & rode some, although i was pretty well done after the race. they had open track sunday too, but i didn't make it... i really hope they have more of these events & make it an anual happening, it was well worth it!

Good to hear that you had fun. Sorry to hear that you brother seized his motor. I wish I woud have gone. They rained out Hannegan so I ended up at RMC quad practice. It was a split practice bikes and quads it took 1 1/2 hours for the quad moto's, the track was tight with do or die doubles. A 450r wadded up good his first time out he endowed and trashed that 450r good.

The Practice on the 6th will be Quad Only and they are going to change the track, making it better for quads.
