What type or riding gear do you wear?

SaMs0n,
I'm told he suffered a twisted fibula & two dislocated thumbs and various cuts & bruises. His bike was totalled. Moral: If you ride fast in the desert, don't watch your front tire as that guy was apparently doing, look way ahead!

I had one additional comment that I failed to make in my previous post on this subject.
Altho many helmets are approved by Snell and/or ADOT, those endorsements mean that helmet meets a minumum standard of safety and quality. It doesn't address the comfort factor nor does it mean that a $89 helmet has the same protection as a $400 model. The more costly models usually provide much more protection than the minumum required to obtain a Snell/ADOT rating.
Bottom line: buy the most expensive helmet you can possibly afford and then wear it every time you ride.

I bought the package deal O'Neal gear with Ocelot boots. I also have a really old O'Neal chest protector. This is a good buy but the Elements jersey fades really easy. The ocelot boots are okay and easy to walk in but I would like something a little stiffer for better protection. I am going today to buy a Thor 454 Kidney belt and Thor Aftershock chest protector. I like O'Neal gear but it is hard to find in my area. I think I am switching to thor gear. Anyone tell me about the quality of Thor boots?
