Connecticut is the worst place for atv's and dirtbikes. there is not one state forest or any thing like that to ride, there is one motorcross track but thats just for d/b's. The only legal places to ride are on your own property or you have written permission to ride on other land. I have been fortunate to be the only one with permission to ride in the aiudi sand pits in plainville (probably one of the best riding spots in the state). if people are even caught standing in them they get tickted.the state does nothing for the atv and dirtbike riders. it really sucks. well if anyone from ct. knows of any good riding spots where you dont get in trouble let me no.

Hey Josh, I have not heard from you in a while. Yeah, CT wants nothing to do with ATV’s in any form. I honestly don’t think that that the state will do anything in the future. Too many people have a lot of money and control that really could care less about our sport.

As far as Plainville, I have not got off my butt yet to see Aiudi. I have spent all my time getting the 250r ready for the rest of the race series. Are you going this Sunday to Southwick?

I took a walk the other day out in the pits. I saw some fresh bike tracks, but I had a feeling that the cops got to them first. When I have gone out there, it is amazing what the police are doing on the quad. I looked at there tracks and saw where they are riding. For them it is just play time on the job. They still come through my yard to get to the town garage down the street. At first it was the same cop, but now I see all different police on the quad. But I have to see a female officer on it.

The closest track that has practice for quads is in Eagle Bridge, NY. Just North of Albany. It takes me about 2.5 hours to get there. It is not bad, nothing like a Southwick or Jolly Roger, but it is a place to practice.

There may be a possibility of a new place in CT by next year. I cannot tell you where, by request of the builder, but if everything goes as planned, look out. He is building the largest MX track in New England. And this guy is going all out. I stopped to talk to him a few months ago, and saw what he was doing. He said that he was open to having anyone there. Even snow cross in the winter. The only thing he was waiting for was a town permit. But he has a big money lawyer and knows the town people very well. When I get the go ahead from him, I will post the details.

hey mike, that sounds great about that new track for next summer, by then i will have my 400ex. the last time i was at the sand pits, a cop came, it was pretty funny because i was goin through the whoops and off the jumps, and the cop was chasin me, and everytime i looked back, the cop wasnt to far behind but he was bareley hangin on, after about 10 min. i went up to the top of the big hill, when the cop got there, i saw he was pretty pissed, he got off the quad and started yelling at me saying he was gonna impound my quad and all this other stuff, when i pulled out the letter from aiudi and showed it to him he was stunned, it was great to see the look on his face. after he gave the letter back, he was acting all nice and everything, i started to ride again and he followed me for a little bit, but then he must have gavin up cuz he was gone and i didnt see him again. when the guy says its alright to give the info on the track, be sure to send it to me, i changed my e-mail address a while ago to j_quads00@hotmail.com

So far the quad police has been nice to me, but then they have only seen me when they are driving through my yard. Just be careful having them chase you, so you don’t get them too mad.

Before the days of the “quad police” I used to just drive right up to them when they pulled in. I never had a problem with them. I even used to call them up when a new car was dumped there.

I wish I could have seen the cop trying to follow you on the Polaris 4x4 they have. I will be going down in the next month to get my letter.

I will be testing out the 250r either tonight or tomorrow for the race on Sunday. I wonder if the cops will be out there. They usually are not in the evening, so I might do it tonight.

Man I hear its getting bad all over the U.S for you guys to find a place to ride. Sometimes I take it for granted how good we have it up here in Canada. Up here in Northern Ontario where I live, we have thousands of places to go ride, from sand pits to trails and nice pipe line riding. And you don't have to travel very far at all to get to them. In many cases, you don't even how to load your quad on your truck. Just hop on your quad and go.

Then I hear how some of you guys down south will travel 3 to 6 hours every week just to find a decent place to ride. That just tells me how much you guys really love this sport.

Hopefully this trend of land closure will turn around for the better, because if the manufactures pull out because of lack of sales, it would affect us up here as well. Even though quad and bike sales are very good up here, Canada is still to small of a market to cater to. Even though we are the 2nd largest country in the world, we only have a small population of about 30 million.
