Default Clutch hand problems

OK track hounds - question.

After about 5 laps on the local MX track - my clutch hand is dying.
I can barely pull in the clutch - my hand hurts so much.

I was racing a couple banshees - and beating them - until my hand pain became to unbearable - an I had to stop and stretch for a minute.

I don't run MX too often - as the suspension on my bike has a little bit to be desired of (Still the 20yr old stock units).

Are there any hand/finger exercises I can do to help w/ this?

I wanna smoke those guys all day long.

Your arm just needs more exercise. Get a pair of those grippy things and just work on that throughout the day.

Default Clutch hand problems

Back in the day I made my own execrice tool. I took a set of handlebars from an old motorcylce and kept the clutch lever on it. I attached a bracket to run a spring from to the clutch lever to simulate the clutch cable tension.
It worked great for me. Anytime I would be watching TV or something, I would just reach down and grab my handlebar setup. I made another one about two years ago for my son when he started racing. This time I also added a thumb throttle aseembly. All I had to do was use two springs in the housing instead of the single one that it came with. All this may sound stupid to you but it really does work.

Thnaks guys.

My wife bought me those 'grippy things'.

I may try the handlebar setup - that would be great to have during long meetings @ work...

My son complains about his thumb throttle too - maybe I could make two sets.

Thnaks again.

RObert,
great idea. I use those exercise springs for my wrists and forearms. I have also learned that my guitar playing over the years has strengthened my hands considerably.
