I am new to racing(1 race)I will be racing a 00'400ex.I was wondering what size and brand front radials most people use? Also what camber and caster? As for rears it looks like turf tamers are the winner here but I have seen 2 sizes for the 8" rim 18x9.5x8 & 18x11x8?(which one is used buy the majority?which is better?).Any other helpful hints are always appreciated.Thanx.

not sure on the rears but i have kumato radials on 3 bikes. K&K racing has them they were the cheapest. i only think they make one size they are about 18-19 inches tall. they were $65 a tire

Beleive it or not, I have had better luck running 20-7-10 Maxxis RAZOR fronts than I have with radials. They work in ALL conditions, rain, mud, hardpack, etc. and turn better than my Rikens do. As for rears, you can run Holeshot MX's in 18-11-8 as I really like mine. I have also run 20-11-8 Razors and they hook better than turf tamers, but are a little taller. I don't notice any difference though. Turf tamers are for some mysterious reason the tire everyone uses, but I have been getting out of the gate and corners faster on the Razors and holeshot MX's. It's all whatever you prefer, they are all good tires, I have several sets of each and they all work well.

Maxxis doesnt make a front 20x7x10 only 21 and bigger, they also have the New Razrs Mx not i got a set on .190 they are sweet, but with my 21x7x10 front razrs it makes my quad look kinda goofy.

the 11 inch wide turfs are good when there is alot of mouisture on hte track and the 9.5 is good when dry they dig deeper into the ground to find something to grab i use the 9.5 but will prob buy some 11 for tracks that need htem and i use the k&k MX radial they hook up great when dry but when it gets alittle muddy i use fast trekkers they stay on top of the mud and dont bog down deep into it i want to try some holeshot fronts when muddy but money says differant

Hey,
The best camber to use i have found is about 5 degrees. In laymens terms, you tip 5/8 of an inch from square at the top. Also your toe-in should be about 1/4 inch in the front. Regarding the tires, Yes K&K has the best radial around now that the Riken is gone (SADLY). On a 400EX i would go with the 11 inch wide turfs on the 8 inch beadlock. They tend to do better on a 4-stroke, whereas the 9 inch widers do better with a two.
