Default yfz 450 shift points

Hey yfz owners, I'm curious about when you guys shift when racing. I usually go to right before the limiter, adn I'm wondering if it's better to shift a little earlier. I have a few buddies with yfz's, but I beat them all every time, so I don't know if they just cant race, or if I'm just doing it the best way! I know that on my 400ex, I shift way before the limiter, and that's the way to do it on that bike, I'm just curious about the 450 now!

I have a YFZ also and I shift almost the same way except I let off the throttle a little bit before I shift to prevent overreving the engine. Quick question which type of racing is better if your just starting to race ATVs, Hare Scrambles or MX.

I'm a begginer also bro! I mostly drag race when I'm out at the dunes a little bit every time I go, but I have done a little bit of mx track stuff, and a little bit of trail racing too. I don't really know which I'd say is easier. a track is a little more predictable, but they both have their challenges.

I'm not really understanding what you are saying. Maybe re-phrase that and I'll get it.

if you hit your rev limiter sometimes it's harder to shift so if you shift early you'll be ok and like i hear af ew other guys state that you should try and give it some more push to shift that'll make sure you didnt miss shift if you miss shift someone will be passing you draggin my experience

After a ride or 2 you should be shifting at maximum power output......ahhh rookies .

I had my YFZ put on a dyno and max horse power was at 8000 rpm's so that is where I am shifting at which is way before the limiter. But there is alot of motor work down to mine so I can't really say what is best for a less modified yfz

I got my yfz after i had a banshee.....i thought they would shift about the same but man was i wrong....i was short shiftin bad....a stock v-force 700 was wearing me out...i still had a stock 450....after i figured how to shift it i was beatin the v-force with ease. Shifting it feels to me like i'm going to blow it up cause i was used to the banshee
