There is nothing WRONG with works. But there are better shocks out there if you have the money.

I have seen a kid on a 400ex with stock suspension set-up win a race against 3 people who race nationals, one open A rider, one 250a rider and one 30+ rider. Cause he was just ***** out, he was taking a beating, you could see that, but he still won, cause he didnt let up.
Its not the shocks you have, its the rider running those shocks. I am sure that there are guys on here who could come with a bone stock quad and proably beat me with my TCS shocks, but I like the TCS,and feel for the money they are the best bet. If I didnt get them paid for by my dad's company for sponsorship, I was gonna get works.

What would you guys suggest? Works Triple Rate A-T Steelers, or PEP Standard Race fronts? I don't think I could afford TCS ZPS fronts right now. If anyone still has them for $650 maybe I could. Anyway, which of those two would you suggest, and how do they compare to TCS? Thanks.

Why does this person need sell his 300ex so he can race? Can he not race in his 0-350 class and be competitive? Why does he "need" the 250r? He will not get to race in that class anymore? He will be in with the two strokes. Why is that class better than the class he is in now? Simply because they are faster! Its who finishes first not how fast you finish.

i agree that nobody should have to sell thier machine they have to get into racing.
I believe it is also safer for someone new to racing to get into a slower class so that if they do -by chance- end up crashing, it won't be as bad as it can be.
i think you should go & have fun(especially the first season).... don't go expecting to take home a trophy, but to learn how racing in a pack of other riders is & what a rush competition is..... & learn to use the full potential of your machine. who knows, maybe you will take home a trophy or two.

then, later, maybe, decide for yourself if you want a faster machine & how to go about getting that.... whether it be hot-rodding this one, or getting a different one.... will be up to you, and you can have more confidence in your decision.

aight man here's the real deal.... the 300ex can be very competive with anything out there... but it takes a little more skill....for the money here's what I would do... get works shocks...dual or triple rate just GET RESERVOIRS...turn your stock front wheels around and have the shocks valved for plus 2" a-arms...your quad will handle twice better....then get a supertrapp pipe,K&N filter and jet kit.... this will make a BIG difference....then smaller wheels/tires and axle...maybe rear works shock.....anyways I could go on and on.... but that will get you started
