BUT... this is no normal ricer: no wings, no stickers, no fart can, no NAAAWS, no turbos, just pure american muscle, all under the hood, and fairly quiet!
The ride: 1988 Mazda RX7, shoehorning in a 99 camaro LS1 5.7L V8!!! Yes, the stock RX7 rotary engine is fast, but not fast enough, and not reliable enough for my taste... they're a maintenance pig. my goal is to put it well into the 11's in the 1/4, and be totally streetable. it maintains the perfect 50/50 weight balance the RX7 was famous for, gains reliablility, double the Hp, and nearly triple the torque of the stock motor. Plus, its more efficient and I can still tune it with a laptop!

THX xfreebirdx!
there's one guy running close to 1000 HP with a LSx V8 in his 93 RX7. and a few others running inthe 450-500 Hp range... mine's only a mild ~320-350.
2500-2800 lbs(some are even lighter), nimble handling, and killer power and reliability..... they say you can only pick 2 from the list: cheap, fast, or reliable.... this combo gives you all 3... I should get 20+MPG on the highway. so, how's them apples?
I have ~6k in the whole build, but it looks like I get to buy a transmission soon. once swapped they make killer road race, auto cross, drag or drift cars....

the problem most FWD ricer cars have is they can't hook up for anything. if the do drag race, it's rare that they are consistent. getting them to go fast isn't a problem in itself, doing it consistently to win drag races is much tougher.
physics does not favor the FWD ricer car on the drag strip in any way. too often, they sit at the line and go up in smoke. gee that NAAAWWWS did a lot of good, huh? now, how about that fin? I guess it's to keep it from spinning around backwards when he finally gets to the other end & hits the brakes???
what's the same between a 300hp, a 450 HP, and 600 hp civic? they all do 14's.
