I have recently bought a 05 450R and have a Yoshi slip on exhaust for it. What would I have to do to run it on Alcohol or Nitromethane and which would be the best?

u can run a nos system. up the comp and run race gas. alo. not worth the trouble of all new carbs vs the power gains

Sell the engine and buy a 700 twin snowmobile engine and stuff in there. Pennyless put a 600 triple Polaris snowmobile engine in his quad, has 135hp on cheap pump gas and survived 6 days at Glamis without trouble. It won the grudge drag race at Gecko campground too. Scary fast up Olds Hill, passed a lot of rails there.

Otherwise: pipe it, cam it, airbox mod, ignition module, new carb maybe and keep it dependable.

good luck.................handycap

Alochol adds power and makes the quad run cooler as long as you up the jets. Half the time you need to run no jet. You would probably need a alochol carb just to run and need to clean the carb after every use. Alchol is a pain. Only time you need alochol is if your a pure drag racer or if your 17:1 compresion or higher.

Higher octain gas is less flaimable so on a stock compression motor it will only hurt performance.

Somthing that does add power is nitromethane gas used for rc cars. You add some of that to your gas and the idling will jump up really high from all the extra air but it contains oil so it might foul your plugs.

I would just add nos power adjitve to your gas its a 16oz for $10. It contains nitro propaine and you need to add 4oz per gal of gas and it adds power and ups the octain reading and main jet needs to be bumped up 3-4 sizes. For a high comp piston you retard the timing 2. You could add more to your gas for more power but would need to go even bigger on the main jet. Im going to start running it. I gess it smells really good to.

better off looking at nitro propane.

nitro methane does not mix well with gasoline, it can be done but at your won risk it becomes unstable in gas fast.
